Principal Supervisor: Garden (2 Positions)

SANBI offers basic annual salary of R228 321.00
The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individuals to effectively assist with all functions relating to the cultivation and maintenance of superior quality indigenous plants in the Garden by implementing the maintenance and development plan of each area. The supervisor will manage staff and maintenance of equipment used and deliver professional client services, in order to help accomplish the overall goals and objectives of the Garden.
This position requires a Grade 10, job specific qualification, or equivalent qualification with NQF 2 with 5 years of work experience in the relevant field, or a Grade 12, job specific qualification, or equivalent qualification with NQF 4 with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field. Higher certificate or equivalent qualification at NQF 5 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: comprehensive knowledge and understanding of garden development, planning, maintenance, conservation, landscaping, and supervision of garden team members; knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures, processes, practices, systems, and frameworks related to garden development, planning, maintenance, conservation, landscaping, and supervision of garden team members; good planning, organizing, interpersonal, time management, and problem solving skills; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Ensure garden development, planning, and maintenance and conservation;
- Assist with conservation and management of living collections;
- Ensure Garden team members perform in accordance with their job profiles;
- Assist with effective management of Garden resources, materials, and risks; and
- Ensure for proper internal & external customer service delivery.
